Lake Castaic

Fished the Anglers Choice tourny. It was a good time and the bite was pretty good. Everyone but one boat had a limit but most fish only came on either split shot or drop shot. Necktie is now open but we stayed down lower most of the day. Good fish in Dry Gulch. Also Jigs and brush hogs are grabbing a few bigger ones. average bag between 9 and 12 pounds.

Fished the tournament Sat.. We had 13.5 sightfishing. Culled twice. Lots of little fish and saw only one big fish but she wasn't commited. Our biggest fish came sightfishing the main lake. The rest of the tournament had good luck d/s the main lake. One team was culling at 7:15.

Got to Castaic around 7:00 and started off in Hawks Nest.. Caught 1 on drop shot very in about 5 feet of water. In the back there were several bed fish and all were very aggressive. Later on as the wind picked up I threw a Huddleston with no luck but 2 more fish came on drop shot and jig. Slow presentation I think was the key. There also was a tournament going on and according to other angler fishing the tournament they all had smaller fish and majority were caught on drop shot or split shot rigs. Left the lake at 3:00. Water temp 62-65 and the water was very clear...

Last weekend the lake was pounded by high winds but since the winds died down the largemouth bite has been excellent. Fish have started to move up and are being caught on senko's & jigs. High winds predicted for this weekend as well.
